Gearing up for the Golf Season in Whistler

It’s almost time to golf here in Whistler! This year’s winter has been longstanding in the Pacific Northwest area, especially for those who are ready to get this golf season rolling.

As the snow melts away, and the vibrant green grass comes through, its time to start getting your game ready for the season.
If you haven’t been swinging the club much this winter, its best to start with some putting exercises and short game practice. Keep your practice time short and sweet, and not stressful as you begin to work back into your game. Try not to be too hard on yourself on the bad shots, move on to make the next one count!

It’s important to keep up your fitness during the winter months to prevent any injury when you start playing again. Walking and running will maintain endurance for those who enjoy walking their round. It’s also important to get into a regular stretching routine to build your flexibility which is very important for your golf game.
The Big Sky Academy has many offerings in terms of lessons and programs to get you on your way.

New to the game? Try out our GET GOLF READY package of 5 beginner lessons and 5 rounds to try out your new skills, for only $500! This starter pack will get you ready to enjoy golfing in Whistler this season.

Make sure to check in on your apparel and gear. Your grips may need to be replaced for the new season; test out every club with a practice swing to see how they are feeling. Comfortable golf shoes that you are able to wear and walk in for a few hours is key. Our team in the Big Sky Golf Shop is equipped to assess your gear for any grip changes, club fitting etc. We carry many great lines for apparel, shoes and accessories from Titleist, Ping, and FootJoy.

Now we are just a little over a month from opening date here at Big Sky with the greens cleared and the warmer weather settling in.
Spring golf is a fun time of year in Whistler because you can enjoy golfing and skiing in the same day! So get out this early season and enjoy two awesome sports.

Don’t forget to book your tee time; tee sheets open for the whole 2018 season.
